Growing up in La Réunion, I have always been surrounded by nature. Since beginning my journey as a footwear designer in London, the structure, shapes and forms within nature has often been a part of my work. It fascinates me to think that something so organic, imperfect and untouched could be so beautiful. And that nature often gives solutions to a variety of unsolved questions and problems; for example, velcros inspired by the burdock plant, sonar inspired by the dolphins…

For my final collection, I studied the organic shapes of mushrooms, in particular the hymenium which includes both symmetrical forms and the random. Both traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques such as 3D printing were used to construct sculptural parts of shoes, like the outsole for the boots and the upper of the yellow sandals made up of strips of leather.
